SI Mandaluyong launched Soroptimist Week last August 25, 2011 during “ Congressman Neptali Boyet Gonzales II Livelihood Fair” held at the Mandaluyong City Hall Grounds.  SI Mandaluyong was given 4 booths out of 30 booths for the event.  The fair was attended by a lot of Mandaluyong residents and employees , thus, giving our club a lot of public awareness.  With a big audience,  we had the opportunity to launch our Program Awards for the search for our nominee for Women Opportunity Awardee, Violet Richardson Awardee, Ruby Awardee, & Unsung Women Heroes Awardee, We distributed brochures to visitors and explained to them the criteria for each award.

SI Mandaluyong also had our fund raising  “ Ukay Ukay for a Cause “ which was much awaited by  Mandaluyong residents.  We have been doing this fund raising for the past 17 years and getting donations from friends, relatives, and members who were more than willing to give us items they don’t really need.  Our Club’s objective  was not really the amount of money we raised but the goodwill our club generated by selling the second hand goods at affordable and giveaway prices.  The amount we raised was not much but it’s a real pleasure to see the look of joy in our buyers’ faces.  We donated the unsold women’s clothes to charitable institutions like the Sanctuary Center and the rest of the goods were donated to Goodwill, another charitable organization.

In partnership with Mama Sita Mixes, there was an on-site “ Lutong Pangkabuhayan”  cooking demonstrations of dishes like pancit canton & pancit palabok.

It was a long & tiring day for 13 SI Mandaluyong members setting up the place from 6 AM and ending cleaning up at 7 PM.  Despite the hard work, we had.  We had so much public awareness were able to invite  3 prospective members to our Club.
